Opinions VS Faith

Who are you to condemn someone’s else servant? Why do you condemn another believer? These are some of the questions Paul asks to the Roman church when He was addressing some dispute matters that arose because of different backgrounds and culture. There are some views, opinions, personal interest that can be a great threat to the unity of the church if not dealt with properly. How does a church pursue its fundamental vision without letting issues tear apart the work of God? Is my heart not in the wrong when I get irritable just because people don’t agree with me?

Romans 14 looks at two scenarios, One about whether Christians should eat meat sacrificed to idols and if a certain day is holier than the other.These if not dealt with can be a poison that just eats up what God is building among us. Ephesians 4 : 10-16 needs to be our focus, we need to be concerned about helping each other grow in the faith and knowledge of God.Christ remains the standard of the church.

Welcome with open arms fellow believers who don’t see things the way do. And don’t jump all over them every time they do or say something you don’t agree with-even when it seems that they are strong on opinions but weak in the faith department. Remember , they have their own history to deal with. Treat them gently. Romans 14:1-4 MSG really challenged me, I need to accept ,receive those who don’t see things the way I do. If my heart is truly set on pleasing God I will not judge my brothers and sisters but instead I will build them up in the faith.Some views and issues are not suppose to even getting in the way of where we are going as the church, as long as we are not compromising the fundamental doctrinal truth about Christianity then we need not to fight.

So let’s forget about deciding what’s right for each other and rather be concerned about building each other up in love. We don’t have the right to condemn and judge another believers, they are accountable to God. Who are you to stand and condemn someone else’ servant.Leaders, we don’t own God’s people and therefore we don’t have the right to decide on their lives. So we leave our opinions at the door so God can build His church.

Romans 14: 19-21 So let’s agree to use our energy in getting along with each other. Help others with encouraging words; don’t drag them down by finding faults.You’re certainly not going to permit an argument over what is served or not served at supper to wreck God’s work among you, are you? This particular verse just seals it all, Why should I overthrow the work of God in his church. We need to aim for harmony in the church and try to build each other up.How is your opinion edifying the church? How is your view adding to unity among believers?

Peter said something profound last week when He was sharing on the vision and mission of the Cfan, He said older people stop judging the young people rather allow them to grow. A church is a growing more and more environment.
